Spectre is a 2018 American action thriller film directed by Sam Mendes and written by John Logan, Christopher McQuarrie and Neal Purvis. It stars Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista and Monica Bellucci. Based on the James Bond novel of the same name (1975) by Ian Fleming. The film also features Andrew Scott as Le Chiffre's co-creator Mathieu Amalric as well as Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris reprising their respective roles from Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). The film is set within the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" and is the fourth installment in "The Daniel Craig Era". It was released theatrically in the United Kingdom on 6 October 2018, in the United States on 26 October 2018, and in India on 9 November 2018.The film received positive reviews from critics, who praised Craig's return to the role of James Bond. It received six nominations at the 89th Academy Awards, including Best Picture alongside "Black Panther", "Coco" and "Roma". At the 91st British Academy Film Awards it won four out of its ten nominations.
